Catching Up: Where We’ve Been, Where We Are, and What’s Ahead
As we move forward from 2025, EcoMarines Ripples continues to evolve, with each step adding a new chapter to its story. 2025 was a year of meaningful progress, with over 500 schools and early learning centres participating in our programs.
Highlights include our Adventure Days across Queensland’s most timeless destinations, such as Green Island, Osprey House, Magnetic Island, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, and Tangalooma Island Resort, offering experiences that connected students with nature through hands-on activities, making learning unforgettable.
Our first in-school workshops, as well as EcoMarines On Tour, brought sustainability directly into classrooms, giving students firsthand experiences in composting, water conservation, and waste reduction, empowering them to turn knowledge into action.
Our EcoMarines Ambassadors were proudly recognised as winners during the Tangalooma Global Link Conference with Bulimba State School and St Anthony’s Catholic College tying for first place, with Kurwongbah State School clinching second place, a moment that celebrated their leadership, creativity, and the real impact of their efforts.
All throughout June, students, communities and even landmarks joined in Go Green competitions, fundraising initiatives, and other interactive activities that made sustainability fun, engaging, and meaningful. Our Making Waves events further connected communities, students, and educators for immersive experiences that inspire environmental awareness and action.
EcoMarines also participated in a broad range of community events, including the Bunnings BBQ fundraiser, Clean Up Australia Day, the Sustainable Brisbane Festival, and local environmental and community fairs in Townsville and Redland City Council areas, helping spread the message of sustainability far and wide.
Looking ahead to 2026, EcoMarines is excited to keep growing, learning, and making a difference. We plan to expand our programs, reach more schools, and create even more opportunities for students and communities to get hands-on with sustainability.
