Angela Massy

CEO

As CEO of EcoMarines, Angela combines strategic development and community engagement to empower young environmental leaders. She collaborates with schools and partners to grow innovative, action-based programs that inspire lasting change.

As CEO of the EcoMarines Foundation, Angela is passionate about empowering young people to become the next generation of environmental leaders. With a background in strategic development and community engagement, she is dedicated to expanding the EcoMarines’ program and inspiring schools and their students to take action for a healthier planet.
Under Angela’s leadership, EcoMarines is continuing to grow into a dynamic, action-orientated program that educates and motivates students. Committed to collaboration and impact, Angela works closely with educators, corporate partners and environmental experts to create innovative programs that drive real change.

Emma Galligan

Partnerships & Engagement Officer

With over 15 years of project expertise and a deep commitment to Queensland, Emma transitioned from a corporate career to the not-for-profit sector five years ago. Now at EcoMarines, she empowers young leaders to bridge the gap between community action and tangible conservation, driving a lasting impact on our local ecosystems.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Environmental Science, Lucinda started her professional career working with the federal Department of Agriculture, Biosecurity and Water. Performing across several divisions, she developed an intrinsic passion for the environment, sustainability and science, which equalled her love of working with and helping others. Years later, she returned to university and completed a postgraduate degree in Education. Since working with EcoMarines, Lucinda has played a vital role by taking her expertise to remote communities across Queensland, including several islands in the Great Barrier Reef. "EcoMarines is the epitome of the adage "think global, act local". The program provides students with an invaluable pathway to create positive change in a way that is fun, supported, and inclusive."

Media & Communications Officer

Kyle has studied Graphic Design and Marketing. Kyle holds a strong commitment to sustainability, proving his passion for promoting environmental responsibility and action, as well as showing enthusiasm for the betterment of environmental communities.

Having studied Graphic Design and Marketing, Kyle has utilised his skillset through logo design, web design, asset creation and social media marketing, culminating in his role at EcoMarines. Kyle holds a strong commitment to sustainability, proving his passion for promoting environmental responsibility and action, as well as showing enthusiasm for the betterment of environmental communities. He oversees management of social media platforms, asset creation, promotional content and campaigns in order to increase environmental awareness and highlight EcoMarines programs and events. Throughout his time at EcoMarines, Kyle has used his studies and applied his skills in a setting that allows for the betterment of our community and environment. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to provide meaningful contributions to our community by getting the word out about what EcoMarines can share with everyone, especially when our environment is in need of the fun, positivity, and education we can provide.”

Suha is the Marketing and Communications Assistant at EcoMarines, combining her studies in Hotel Management and Marketing with a passion for sustainability. She supports social media, content creation, and campaigns that raise environmental awareness and promote positive community impact.

Suha Yoon is the Marketing and Communications Assistant at EcoMarines Foundation. She came to Australia to study for a Bachelor of International Tourism & Hotel Management / Bachelor of Business, majoring in Hotel Management and Marketing. Suha's commitment to sustainability is remarkable as she is passionate about promoting environmental responsibility through applying marketing initiatives that positively impact the community and protect our Earth. She assists in managing social media platforms, creating promotional contents and campaigns to increase environmental awareness and highlights EcoMarines Programs and events. Suha's academic journey has extended her knowledge in the marketing field, and working with EcoMarines Foundation allowed her to apply skills in a real-world and community-driven setting. “I am excited to continue making more meaningful contributions and spread positivity to help our team achieve teams’ growth and success.”

Latisha Somers

Latisha is a graduate Environmental Scientist passionate about ecology, with hands-on experience in wildlife care, bush regeneration, and flora and fauna conservation. She’s dedicated to community-driven conservation and hopes to inspire the next generation through her work with EcoMarines and local citizen science initiatives.

Latisha is a graduate Environmental Scientist with a passion for ecology. She has volunteered for both flora and fauna conservation programs. At Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, she tends to endangered koalas, doing tasks such as enclosure maintenance, feeding, and health monitoring. Latisha loves attending citizen science events in her local region, including bird surveying and spotlighting for arboreal mammals. She has experience as a Bush Regenerator, restoring forests and riparian environments. Latisha volunteers with Nerang National Park, removing invasive weeds and protecting natives, which provide vital habitats for animals. She wishes to inspire community-driven conservation by engaging with young environmental leaders at EcoMarines.

Kassandra is a graduate Marine Biologist driven by a deep passion for ocean conservation, environmental education, and community-led science. She is passionate about inspiring students to become confident environmental leaders through hands-on learning, outdoor experiences, and real-world examples of conservation in action.

Kassandra is a graduate Marine Biologist with a Master’s degree from James Cook University, driven by a deep passion for ocean conservation, environmental education, and community-led science. Her experience working as a research assistant in the marine turtle field has shaped her commitment to protecting marine ecosystems while making science engaging, accessible, and meaningful for all ages. Kassandra is passionate about inspiring students to become confident environmental leaders through hands-on learning, outdoor experiences, and real-world examples of conservation in action. She values building strong, inclusive community connections and empowering young people to recognise the impact their voices and everyday actions can have on the environments they care about. Through her work, Kassandra aims to foster curiosity, stewardship, and a lasting connection to the natural world—especially within the unique ecosystems of North Queensland.

Board Member

David has been with Tangalooma Resort for 35 years. Joining the company as a scuba diving instructor in 1987, David soon took up other positions across the resort, including the role Resort /Hotel Operations Manager. In 1993, after three year’s working overseas, David re-joined Tangalooma, firstly as a Resort Operations Manager and then onto the role of Director of Sales and Marketing. In taking on the role, David quickly identified the potential of Asian tourism markets and began sales calls to China, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Korea. In 2001 Tangalooma became known in China as Haitundao – ‘Dolphin Island’ and by 2003 David had established Tangalooma offices in China and Korea and in India by 2009. His strong relationships throughout Asia and efforts to identify & meet the needs of Asian consumers have seen Tangalooma’s reputation grow exponentially; the resort is now widely regarded as the number one island destination among Asian markets to Australia. Despite this success in attracting international visitation to the Resort, David has always been committed to ensuring that the Resort always attracted a majority of visitation from domestic Australian travellers. This strategy has empowered the Resort to successfully navigate international travel & economic crises such as SARS, and the COVID-19 Pandemics; whilst maintaining the authenticity of an Australian Resort that is attractive to both domestic and international travellers alike. As a company director, David’s responsibilities extend well beyond those of sales and marketing. With the company experiencing strong growth and undertaking significant capital works, David remains a key driver in the strategic planning and future development of the Resort. Since 2012 David has also managed and nurtured the Resort’s exclusive relationship with Carnival Cruise Lines, to establish Tangalooma as one of the leading cruise ship Destinations in the South Pacific Region. David is recognised as one of Australia’s top authorities on international tourism and has served on the Queensland China Council and Australian Tourism Export Council’s China advisory panels. David has served as the Vice-Chair on the Board of Southern Queensland Country Tourism since 2019 and has also been a member of advisory panels to Tourism Australia, Tourism & Events Queensland, and Brisbane Economic Development Agency.

Brian is CEO of Sports Analytics, a Brisbane-based sports consultancy focussing on sponsorship effectiveness and improvement. Prior to this, Brian’s career has been in sports and tourism, with senior Marketing and Management roles at V8 Supercars, Dreamworld, American Express and Warner Village Theme Parks. Brian sees EcoMarines as Environmental Educators, giving the next generations the tools to be environmentally aware, so they can become proactive agents of change and advocate for sustainable practices.

With almost 40 years in the media, Bill is one of Australia’s most experienced and recognised cross platform news and sport journalists, commentators and presenters. He is currently the outspoken host of Nine Radio Brisbane’s Mornings show on 4BC, and commentator of the 2024 Olympic Games. Bill has previously been the sport and news anchor for Seven and Ten News in Brisbane as well as hosting major network’s news and sporting events. Bill is also a sought-after media trainer, event host, licenced property agent and busy auctioneer for Apollo Auctions. A proud EcoMarines board member, and host of ‘The Wave’ since its inception, Bill’s passion for caring for our pristine waterways stems from his love of Moreton Island and the bay, which he’s been visiting with his family of four sons since high school.

Ben commenced his working career in Banking and Finance in the mid 1980’s focusing on structured property finance transactions. The GFC allowed Ben to have a break from the finance sector and joined the Qld Trust for Nature as its inaugural external CEO in 2012. In 2016 Ben joined Skroo and Jude Turners private family group to help establish the Turner Family Foundation. This Foundation has established a number of projects including the Hidden Vale Wildlife Centre which oversees the breeding and research into Australia’s endangered and threatened wildlife in partnership with the University of Queensland. Other projects include the ecological restoration of the Turners three Nature Refuges and the Little Liverpool Range Initiative, a wildlife corridor in Southeast Queensland. In 2024 Ben rejoined the finance sector as an Executive Director with GPS Investments, a private mortgage fund based in Brisbane. Ben is committed to stopping biodiversity loss so that future generations can enjoy the natural assets that past generations have enjoyed and the EcoMarines programs provides our youth with the knowledge and tools to make positive changes for the future.
